SM: We've got it all for you

This post has nothing to do with the SM of business tycoon, Henry Sy. Though the title says it does. This is all about my mere opinions and views with regard to my version of SM - Social Media.

It has been a fact that Social Media is one of the greatest discoveries the world is enjoying. To a circle of greens and blues, this SM literally provides the whatnot boys and girls of all ages wish to have. From the answers of simple mathematical conversions to buying the lingerie worn by those hot angels of VS. It's there. Type the words down that search engine and voila! Results a la mode on a silver platter. SM got it all for you, indeed.

You have to consider your internet connection, though.

Anyhow, because of social media, netizens become more aware and concerned about the current events happening around. The national government agencies, local government units, and any other relevant organizations have an idea about ordinary people's views because of their posts about certain matters on social media. Family members and friends get updated about their loved ones who work overseas or who are just next door. Companies and entrepreneurs become aware of their prospective employees through the achievements and skills posted online.

It's a very big plus!

However, there are those who irresponsibly use their social media accounts. Some even go to the extent of bashing and insulting people because of the belief that social media equals "freedom". It's sad to note that social media is being viewed that way. It results to some people abusing it.

Two of my friends experienced the so called "friendship over" because of an unwarranted F with the blue background post. It's shocking to see two close friends fighting within the four sides of a laptop.

Because of the abused freedom of expression, anybody could just deliver his message to his receiver without any filter. There are also people who use their accounts to gain online fame. It’s fine, yes. But it is only fine if the posts are for the good.

I have seen many people’s accounts “delivering news”, they say. However, the kind of “news” they share to their online followers are those that have unverified contents and are not factual. Some even post photos of pitiful people involved in accidents thinking that they are doing something worthy, which I believe is not. It’s vanity in my eyes, I must say - #famewhore.

There are commendable actions and battles being done online, but there are those that make me face palm. The negativities and sorry posts on the net are those that degrade the worth of SM.

As always said, "If you have nothing good to say, SHUT UP!"

But with me, no need to shut up, if you know how to say things properly and politely.

More SM, yes! To responsible and polite netizens only.

Peace and kisses!
